Greg Stanton, the left-wing candidate of France, announced at a press conference in Paris that France's exit from NATO will not mean stopping the defense of Europe's external borders. In response to a question about the withdrawal of French troops stationed in Estonia and Romania under NATO supervision, he said: "This issue is irrelevant; these countries are members of the European Union and are covered by European treaties."

Defense of Europe's Shared Borders

Stanton emphasized that "leaving NATO does not mean abandoning the defense of our shared borders" and added that France will continue to protect its borders and those of its neighbors. At this meeting, held under the title Playbook Paris Live, he referred to the existing concerns about France's future defense policy.

This leftist politician is among the leading candidates for the presidential election next spring and, along with his right-wing rival Marine Le Pen, has called for a reduction in France's dependence on NATO. This has raised concerns at NATO headquarters.

Tensions with Germany and Ukraine

Stanton also criticized Germany's armament plans, pointing out that Berlin has strengthened its military without coordinating with its neighbors. He referenced the history of Germany's attacks on France and said: "The Germans want to build the largest conventional army in Europe, why? We need to talk about this."

He also emphasized the necessity of stopping Ukraine's deep attacks into Russian territory, stating: "Do you realize they are firing with French and British weapons? We are becoming involved parties." Stanton's remarks reflect his stance on the Ukraine crisis and international tensions.
