The crash of a news helicopter in Los Angeles on Tuesday, while covering a fatal bus accident, resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to one other. The helicopter crashed near a storage building in the Chatsworth neighborhood, located northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department stated that at least one person died in the parking lot next to the building, and it is unclear whether the other two victims were on the ground or inside the helicopter. He added that officials are investigating the crash site and the debris from the helicopter. Brandon Silverman, a fire department spokesperson, said: "We are working to determine the number of casualties inside the helicopter."

Local NBC network in the United States confirmed that the helicopter in question was NewsChopper4 and was en route to the fatal accident involving an SUV and a city bus that resulted in the deaths of two people. The identities of the individuals inside the helicopter have not yet been disclosed, and NBC reported that they have been unable to contact the crew.
Reporters at the bus accident scene stated that the helicopter crash occurred about a mile (1.6 kilometers) away from the bus accident site. The fire department reported that hundreds of firefighters were dispatched to the scene and quickly extinguished the flames. Aerial images show that remnants of the helicopter's tail and rotor are scattered among storage containers and vehicles.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have begun their investigations into the cause of the crash.
