Trump stated to reporters that this idea could be seen as a "hostile act" and threatened that if this path continues, serious sanctions would be imposed on the European Union. He emphasized, "If they do this, if I think this is a hostile act, I will impose very heavy tariffs or stop trade with Europe in many cases."
